Accessible Housing CPD event comes to the East Midlands
Come and see, try and ask about the products that help homes work for longer, at our Future Proofing Homes CPD Day on 5 November
Some things are just easier when you can see them, try them and ask the person who actually makes them.
That’s the whole idea behind our Future Proofing Homes and CPD Day. It’s an accessible housing CPD event for occupational therapists, housing teams, contractors and specifiers, and this time we’re bringing it to the East Midlands.

The quick details
What: Future Proofing Homes and CPD Day
When: 5 November 2026, 09:30 to 15:30
Where: Hilton Hotel at East Midlands Airport, M1 Junction 24, Derby Road, Derby DE74 2YZ
Who it’s for: OTs, local authority adaptation teams, housing associations, contractors, technical officers, surveyors and anyone involved in specifying or delivering accessible homes
What you’ll get: CPD sessions, live product demonstrations and conversations with leading accessible living manufacturers
Why accessible housing CPD event works best in person
At our previous Future Proofing events in Durham and Southampton, one of the biggest themes was simply finding out what else is out there.
One attendee told us: “It’s been great to see what else is out there, what products are available and a big thank you to PROCare for arranging.”
You can read about a sliding basin online. It’s a different thing entirely when you can try it, put a wash and dry toilet through its paces, look at an adapted kitchen mechanism up close, or ask a manufacturer how their product would cope in a tricky property.
Watch some highlights from our previous events below.
What’s on the day
Expect products and expertise across:
Accessible bathrooms, wetrooms, showers, wash and dry toilets, flooring, wall panels and adapted kitchens
Inclusive living solutions including stairlifts, drainage, showering, sanitaryware and specialist support products
There’ll be CPD sessions from Closomat and Pressalit, expert insight from Foundations, and the chance to meet suppliers including Geberit, Gerflor, Mira, ROPOX, Stannah and Whale, alongside the PROCare team.
Built around real adaptation work
The people who come to these days are dealing with real homes and real problems. The bathroom’s too small. The drainage isn’t where you need it. A resident’s needs are changing. The standard spec just won’t work.
So the day isn’t only about looking at products. It’s a chance to talk through accessible bathroom adaptations, Disabled Facilities Grant projects, wetroom design, adapted kitchens and future proof housing, along with the practical things that can slow a job down.
We’ll also be joined by an expert speaker from Foundations, the National Body for Home Improvement Agencies and Adaptations, bringing a wider view on home adaptations, Disabled Facilities Grant delivery and the challenges facing local authority and housing teams. That means the day is not only about products. It is also about the bigger picture of how adaptations are planned, funded and delivered.
How it links to Fit For Our Future
This day sits right alongside our Fit For Our Future campaign. We’d like to see housing providers move beyond reacting when somebody reaches crisis point, and think earlier about homes that can keep up as people’s needs change.
In practice, that means knowing what’s already available, thinking about future needs when specifications are being written, and getting OTs, housing teams, contractors and suppliers talking sooner.
Sometimes a small change to a specification makes a home work better for years. Other times, a difficult adaptation needs a completely different answer. Either way, knowing what’s out there is a good place to start.
